Safety is one of our foundational values at Powell Contracting. As a company dedicated to road safety, it is central to our operations. The health and well-being of our employees has always been a priority, and as we have evolved, that dedication has extended beyond the job site to also encompass mental health, wellness, and supporting our employees outside of work. In particular, we recognize the mental health challenges many in the construction industry face and strive to do our best to help our employees prioritize their mental wellbeing and raise awareness for the industry.

 

Our commitment to our employees’ health and safety has earned us the ISO 45001:2018 certification and the Chief Prevention Officer Recognized Employer status. Both testaments to safety practices we implement and our above average performance with respect to industry standards.

 

These standards are maintained by an exceptional health and safety team, that have extensive experience, including as members of the Ontario Road Builders' Association (ORBA) Health and Safety Committee. Together, we have fostered a culture of safety that pushes us to not only be responsible for our own safety, but also share responsibility for each other’s. This collaborative environment helps improve awareness and knowledge sharing when it comes to health and safety, both on and off the job site.
