"Powell Contracting has a fast-paced and collaborative work environment, where creativity, initiative, and innovation are valued. Offering a variety of programs including learning and development, wellness and community engagement, and events, employees are supported and driven to reach both personal and professional goals. By encouraging employee involvement, we foster an environment committed to diversity, inclusion, and sustainability, as well as promote a culture that is both physically and psychologically safe."

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Powell Contracting respectfully acknowledges that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Wendat, the Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississaugas of Scugog, Hiawatha and Alderville First Nations, and the Métis Nation. We also recognize that this territory was the subject of the “Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant”, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy, the Ojibwe, and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. The treaties that were signed for this particular parcel of land are collectively referred to as the Williams Treaties of 1923. Powell Contracting is grateful to have the opportunity to gather and operate on this land, and by doing so, give our respect to it’s first inhabitants.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMNT

At Powell Contracting, we believe that our greatest opportunity for continued success is fostered in the belief that every voice matters. Each one of us has a unique story and we promise to do our part to ensure that those stories are heard, seen, acknowledged, and supported.

Powell’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee was established in April 2021 with the intention of fostering a community based on collaboration, creativity, and belonging.  Committee members at all levels of the organization, and across various business units, meet once per month to discuss upcoming events and initiatives, review policies and current practices, and to share resources to improve diversity in the workplace.  All members are encouraged to contribute ideas in a judgement free space, to enhance and improve the experience and work environment of the organization. We appreciate the importance of giving back to the community. And we couldn't do it without the generous support of our employees.
